The Foundation

An invitation into stillness — practical enough for an ordinary week, deep enough for a lifetime.

Shantiniketan Sadhna Kendra was founded by Pujya Bandhutriputi Maharaj in 1983 as a place where meditation and philosophical wisdom are made accessible, practical and relevant for everyday life. It is open to any seeker, without discrimination, who comes looking for a way into meditation and self-inquiry.

Two living traditions, held as equals

Patanjali's yog sadhna and Jain philosophy — taught, practiced and lived together.

The Kendra draws from two real lineages, and neither is treated as backdrop to the other. Patanjali's yog tradition offers a disciplined path into the stilling of the mind; Jain philosophy and practice offer a framework of self-inquiry, restraint and reverence for all life.

Both are held with equal seriousness — scholarly yet accessible, spiritual yet never austere or exclusive.
